This watercolor on paper depicts the village at Stourhead, Wiltshire, UK.
A campus master plan developed was at the request of the University after AOJ designed the Maluku Studies Centre on the campus. Master plan developed with Richard Krantz, who did the renderings.
The existing church building was expanded, taking sanctuary seating from approximately 120 to 220, doubling Sunday School space, and providing space in the basement and a first floor multi-purpose room for the youth group. The existing building of 5,600 square feet was increased on the first floor by 3,800 square feet, and an additional 3,000 square was provided in the daylight basement.
AOJA built on previous remodeling work designed by AOJA including remodeling of the fellowship area, the Fireside room (a meeting and prayer room), and the office/conference room. Custom designed trim profiles were carried through the new addition, and a handsome wood connecting stair enhances the southwest corner of the building. The large windows surrounding the stair provide a beacon of light at night.
The renovation and additions to this historic 1950s elementary respected the original design and all the new work was designed by AOJ to be compatible with the original in forms, materials and general character while still retaining a contemporary stamp. The design had to be approved by the township Historic Architectural Review Board.
Carried out while with spg3 Architects.
