Bridge Design, Riverside Park

Buffalo, NY

This pedestrian bridge was designed as a reconstruction of the Olmsted-designed bridge formerly found in the “Minnow Pools,” a historic water feature designed by the Olmsted firm in 1898. This fabulous water feature was removed in the mid-20th century, and has now been restored and re-interpreted in 2014 as a rain garden by the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy. Anthony designed this bridge based on other examples of Olmsted-designed bridges elsewhere, as no drawings or photographs survived of the bridge here in Riverside Park.
